< Back to News Home Team Sahlen Debuts Hoerr GBM Corvette with Finish at Rolex 24 Hours

Posted (02/11/2007) - Team Sahlen's returned from the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona with a very good driving experience and a great handle on where to steer their team this season.

Running their brand new Hoerr Racing GBM Corvette along with their two Porsche GT3 Cups, the team raced against over 70 drivers who have won major championships including, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya, Sam Hornish and Helio Castro Neves.

With all this championship competition, they still finished the race strongly with a 21st place finish in a class of 46. Other than the factory Pontiac and the SpeedSource Mazda RX-8, Team Sahlen's had the top non-Porsche car in the race.

Having the top non-Porsche is astonishing for the team because Team Sahlen's accomplished this finish after having the car for only 25 days before the start of the event.

On the course, the drivers got a feel for what their new Corvette can do, and are impressed with how the vehicle performed.

Driver Wayne Nonnamaker said that, "Hoerr GBM built us a great handling car. We ran almost flawlessly, which is amazing considering the first race in the car was a 24-hour endurance event. We have some ideas for getting more competitive and we think we have a great platform to build off of."

With Team Sahlen's next event in Mexico City on March 3rd, Wayne and the other drivers have a chance to build on their Rolex 24 Hours experience and take their Corvette racing strategies and competitiveness to the next level.

Team Sahlen's races with the support of HRPWorld.com, GOJO, Kempthorn AutoMall, HAWK Performance, Forgeline, Cool Shirt, TheRaceSite.com, TheRaceMarket.com, Grassroots Motorsports, HOTSEAT, Holliday Canopies, Alcon, CM Racing, Joe Gibbs Motor Oil, Genesis Technologies, Endurance Karting, and Racetech Seats.
